He was a mason & had a bake shop. Also a grocer in Lower Slaughter,Gloucestershire. This is recorded in the Public Record Office (census records) off the internet.

Henry Thomas Mosson was an illegitimate child of Emily Mosson. He was raised by his Mosson grandparents. Emily went to London and was later married to a Mr Smith and had a daughter. Grannie Smith spent her last days at Grandpa Mossons home.

As told to Alan Mansell by Grannie (Annie) Mansell--- When Grannie Smith (Emily Mosson) lost her sight and was quite old she returned to live with her son Henry Thomas and wife Annie (nee Johnson) My Grannie (Annie) said she and her sisters and brother used to blow out the candle has Grannie Smith would go upstairs to bed, and of course Grannie Smith being blind would not know about the candle, and the children would have a good laugh.

Henry Thomas was raised by Emily Mosson's parents.

Henry Thomas was a stone Mason as was most of the Mosson men. He, his wife and family lived in Lower Slaughter for a number of years. He built and help build many homes in Lower Slaughter. Henry and his family moved to Southstoke where the family operated a store from their house, which still bears the name "MOSSON" on the gate.

John Mosson who is in the "Family Tree" 1828 - 1909 was Henry Thomas Mosson's Uncle. He was the first owner of the house in Lower Slaughter where Kenneth Mosson now lives.

They were married in England June 16 1875 and lived in Lower Slaughter and Stoke. # different houses and 2 were in Stoke and all still there in 1978 when Mom, Gladys and I went to England. Grandpa Mosson (Henry Thomas) had bake shops in both places and was also a brick layer or stone mason.

At one time a political problem came up, for it seems Grandpa (Henry Thomas) was a staunch liberal and they were renting from a man whose son was running for political office as a conservative. The house owner approached Grandpa and said are yoyou going to vote for my son? Granpa said "I've been a Liberal all my life and I will remain a Liberal. Grandpa was then given notice to move out of house and shop but the Liberal party soon built a larger shop and home for them. The one they had to move out of was 300 years old in 1978 and we were invited into both houses when we were there.

Henry Thomas and Annie came to Canada about 1904. Their son Bert and daughter Emily came first, but soon followed by Annie and Henry Thomas with daughter Annie (Grannie). Jeanette (Nett) and Dora followed. I'm not sure if this is the right order and Edith was in China as a missionary helper at the time.

They settled in Alexander Man. and Henry Thomas built a house there. Annie (Grannie) was married in that house and I, (Aunt Ella) was born in that house. They later moved to Deepdale Man. Uncle Jack Morris & Aunti Em and Uncle Bert farmed there. Also Uncle Bob Wragg and Aunti Nett had a farm in that area, also Dad(William Mansell) and Mother Annie Mansell (nee Mosson) farmed around there. Uncle Will and Aunti Ada came to Canada later.

William Mosson Sr. and his wife Ada arrived from England in 1908 with their two small children Edith and William (Bill). They settled in Alexander to join the rest of the family who had come out in 1906. Grandpa Mosson Sr. built for his family the house which is now owned by Jim and Sherry Pedin. They lived there until 1914 or 1915 when they moved to Deepdale Manitoba. William Mosson Sr. was a bricklayer by trade and helped build the school in 1912. In 1932 he started the Rural Mail Route. He delivered mail 3 times a week a distance of 26 miles summer and winter with horses. He did this for 14 years and retired in 1946. Ada worked at the Bank of Montreal as caretaker??? William died at the age of 77 in 1953. Ada lived with May and Bob Murray till she died in 1967 at the age of 90

He also leaves to cherish his memory a step-son, Harry Calhoun of Foremost; two step-daughters, Olive Pavish of Penticton, Lou Reinke of Kelowna; eight step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Kelly Mosson of Brandon, Manitoba; and two sisters, Mae Murray and Edith all of Brandon, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pricilla Mae Mosson in January 1970 in Quesnel, B.C., also by a brother, Stan in the early part of 1985 in Manitoba. He married the former Pricilla Mae Frankish in 1942 and in November of 1970 he married Marie in Quesnel, B..C. William Johnstone Mosson, our Grandpa and family arrived in Quebec Ports (Montreal?) Sept 19, 1908 on the Virginian. Auntie Edie was 3, and Uncle Bill was 1.

From a friend, and corroborated by cousin Bill Featherstone, it looks like William Johnstone came out in 1906 on the SS Tunisian with his parents, Henry Thomas and Annie, and brother Henry Albert, perhaps to see what it was like, or to help with the move. Then he went back to England, and 2 years later packed up his young family and moved to Canada as well.

Alan found hand written ship list Sept 22-23 on internet that shows that William Mosson and wife Ada, along with children Edith and Wm. Henry (Bill) arrived in Montreal from Liverpool aboard the ship "Victorian" on Sept 11 1908 with a ticket # 27048

Emily Mosson was at parents and brother Bert's farm in Alexander Manitoba when a religious group came around and said there was no good meeting here and you should go south around Fargo North Dakota. This group was called the 2 by 2 s and as far as I (Alan) know they are still operating. According to Kathleen's letter on internet Annie the mother was not happy with these people, but Emily went south to Fargo. Letter implies Ciss went also but I don't think so. Emily worked at this religion for at least a couple years and then married Leslie Hoskins. How long they were married is not known but letter says he died of ruptured appendix April of 1913 when she was 6 months pregnant with Kathleen Anne. She left Minnisota and went back to parent's house in Alexander.
Less then a year later John Wilson's first wife Elizabeth May died two or three days after giving birth to son Edward ( Ted ) James Wilson on Dec 24 1913. She had been depressed for some time after her fourth daughter "Rose" died at about a year old when a neighbour friend dropped the baby on her head. John and Elizabeth May had 3 daughters and this son, and Emily "Mosson" Hoskins said ehe would take the baby to look after has Polly, John's sister from England would not look after baby as she was supposed to do when John brought her out from England. John and Emily were married in Dec 21st 2014 at Emily's parents farm in Deepdale

She was living with married daughter Evelyn Mary Bell aged 29 who was a school teacher, in 1950 and Emily was age of 74

May Murray of Fairview Home, formerly of Alexander, Manitoba, peacefully passed away at Brandon General Hospital at the age of 89 years, on Tuesday, August 20, 2002. May was predeceased by her parents, William and Ada Mosson; sister, Edith; and brothers, William "Bill", Kenneth "Kelly", and twin brother, Stan. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert (Bob); and sons Wayne (Fleurette), David (Deby), and grandchildren Jaye and Kristin. May was born in Alexander, Manitoba on September 12, 1912 and resided there until retirement in Brandon. The greatest joy in May's life was the love for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed curling, gardening, bingo, handicrafts and was a member of the I.O.D.E. Manitoba, and married Vernon Ray Munroe Nov 16, 1935 at Maymont Sask., when Mansell Family lived near Sonningdale Sask. Not sure why they moved to Toronto area during war, but they operated small gas station and convenience store. Again not sure when they moved to Richmond BC. Uncle Vern Munroe born Sept 6, 1904 worked in the Rice Mill in Richmond till his death in Jan 7, 1963. I assume he was some kind of contractor there, as the company did not deduct his income tax etc. and when he died Aunt Ella had a hard time figuring it all out.
