William Johnstone MOSSON |
- William was born in 1875. William Mosson ... He passed away in 1953. [1]
William Johnstone Mosson, our Grandpa and family arrived in Quebec Ports (Montreal?) Sept 19, 1908 on the Virginian. Auntie Edie was 3, and Uncle Bill was 1.
From a friend, and corroborated by cousin Bill Featherstone, it looks like William Johnstone came out in 1906 on the SS Tunisian with his parents, Henry Thomas and Annie, and brother Henry Albert, perhaps to see what it was like, or to help with the move. Then he went back to England, and 2 years later packed up his young family and moved to Canada as well.
Alan found hand written ship list Sept 22-23 on internet that shows that William Mosson and wife Ada, along with children Edith and Wm. Henry (Bill) arrived in Montreal from Liverpool aboard the ship "Victorian" on Sept 11 1908 with a ticket # 27048
- 1916 Manitoba Census in the Municipality of Whitehead shows the following
William J. Mosson aged 40 Farm Worker
Ada R (Parsons) aged 40. wife
Edith aged 10
William born (20 Dec 1906) aged 9
Kenneth. aged 6
Stanley aged 4
Ida. aged 4. (they were twins)
Anglican and immigrated from England 1913. This immigration is not the same as other records so it might mean they became Canadians in 1913
