  Notes	William (Alan's grandfather) aged 10 and his brother Tommy aged 6 had been picking wild flowers and came to the well to get water for them and also to have a drink at the pump. When Tommy stood on the lid of the well to get a drink, the lid slipped and he fell into the well and drowned. (note by writted sheet original either Grannie or Aunt Ella -Alan April \07) I think Mother and dad lived at the Mansell farm (William & Sarah) at first. Later worked on farms at Russel Man, and at a farm out from Deepdale Man.Around 1920 or 21 they left there and purchased a farm the other way from Deepdale near a family by the name of Marely Button. Dad (William John Mansell) built a house on this farm and we lived there till early 1924 when we moved to Bigger Sask. Dad worked for Uncle Charlie (his brother) in the draying business.(like trucking only using horse drawn drays). In the spring of 1925 Dad got a ferry job and we moved to the Fielding Ferry for one year, and then to the Best ferry for one year also. After this (1927) they moved to the Sonningdale - Maymont ferry for several years. Dad later went to the Denholm or Belgennie ferry in 1940. We moved to Nanaimo in 1943 and then onto Richmond in !944. I (Ella Munroe) started school in Roblin,Man., and then when Dad purchased the farm -Bert, Stan and I all went to Makaroff school, - then onto Bigger School. The two winters mother and us spent in Manitoba we attended Deepdale and Gilbert Plains School. I went for 1 year at Sonningdale Country school when Dad was at the Fielding ferry, and I stayed at the McArthurs. Gladys started at Gunnes School and later went to Sonningdale School. Iris started at Sonningdale and later went to Richmond BC schools.
